The Habit Of Breaking A Pinata In Mexican Carnival

Whenever there is a carnival or a party in Mexico, there is always a colorful pinata around to make sure that everyone is in a lighthearted mood. From birthdays to town fiestas, the papier maché trimming is often shaped into all kinds of comical shapes that ranges from popular Disney characters to animals, and are stuffed with sweets that people scramble about to catch. We are all aware that the Mexicans celebrate like this, since we see the all-too favorable pinata evident in more than a hundred of films, stories, and even animated movies.

I remember the first time I saw a pinata, and I was pleased at how merry the kids were to see one. As soon as a favored tyke was able to break it and fling the candies all around, I finally understood the kids' fascination about the colorful donkey that was hanging five feet from the ground. It was indeed merry, and I laughed hard when I remember how the kid searched around for the pinata as his eyes were covered by a dark cloth. I guess that anticipation plays an urgent part in that game, as the kids wait and cheer their friend to hit the pinata and fling them with colorful candies.

Mexico's Savory Dishes Wonderful For A Shot of Tequila

Mexican dishes are renowned for their spicy smack, mainly because of the variety of spices used therein -- from the savory and mild flavored jalapenos to the enticing habaneros. The sauces used such as the guacamole and the salsa are also savory food condiments, wonderful for dishes such as tacos, nachos, and sopes.

My favorite Mexican dish, which was introduced to me by a companion, is the Sopes with Salsa Verde because this tasty meal is made by using a bread-like base, which is the Sopes, and is topped with tender ground meat and ripe slices of tomatoes, onions, and lettuce. Shredded cheese are also added, along with copious servings of the spicy Salsa Verde, for that bona fide Mexican flavor. The mouthwatering Salsa Verde is a special brew of fresh tomatillos, zesty slices of garlic, jalapeno chilies, and a dash of coriander. The spicy brew is then cooked, providing the perfect dressing for the yummy Sopes. A shot of Tequila, Mexico's conventional drink, can surely wash down those spicy Sopes. To end the spicy Mexican meal, and to satisfy my sweet tooth, my Mexican companion and I ordered for a plate of the delectable Flan Caramelisado, or Caramel Custard. The creamy taste of this wonderful dessert definitely provides a sweet ending for a Mexican food trip.

The Enchanting Protégé of Universal Fashion

With dark brown hair, a set of mystifying brown eyes that completes an irresistible face, a 36-24-35 body figure, plus a striking 5'10" height, how can't Elsa Benitez be an international top model? Ever since, it has been her huge dream to be a supermodel so in 1995, she joined and topped a certin model search set in Costa Rica; the rest, as they say, is a fantastic history.

Productive modeling offers came after the other, and Elsa began flying in and out of Mexico to set off either to Europe or United States. A year after her feat, Elsa made her way to the cover of the eminentVogue magazine not just once but thrice, making her a striking fashion icon in all of Italy. She also became a standard fine face on the front covers of several other slick magazines such as Marie Claire, Harper's Bazaar, Mademoiselle, Glamour, and Elle. With a tanned, well-sculpted body, Elsa is not limited to walking on the runway because in 2001, she graced the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition as its cover girl, which unsurprisingly startled the readers.

Modeling suddenly changed her life dramatically -- from doing campaign works for international fashion wonders like Victoria's Secret, Dolce & Gabbana, Nine West, and Episode to being a zealous housewife to the NBA icon Rony Seikal. But nothing is stopping Elsa to be a protégé of arts and fashion because she is now preparing to get to the radiant kingdom of films. Surely, from runways to film locations, Elsa is a grand pride of the Mexican people.
